Every night, the night market in Chinag Rai Thailand has live performances of traditional Thai dance and music. The market is a great place to visit and unwind from the day. Lots of local food and some very nice handmade crafts are in abundance. This was my fourth visit to Chinag Rai and I wanted to photograph the traditional Thai dancers. The lighting was absolutely horrible and it was difficult at best to get a decent available light shot. The dancers were standing right in front of the floodlights located on the stage floor and they were casting terrible shadows.
I was trying to figure a better approach for the lighting when I noticed this little girl dancing below the stage. The little girl was imitating the dancers that were on the stage above her. When she came close to the stage a perfect shadow was cast on the wall. I started clicking away and after a few minutes the rest of the crowd saw what I was shooting and the camera phones descended on the little girls antics. Shot at ISO 8000 F 2.8/200 70-200. Canon EOS 5D Mark III.
